Sliding gates are generally used at the ends of driveways, or other areas where swing gates would block a road when opened or are just not feasible due to space restrictions. North Valley Forge offers a wide range of sliding gate options, including conventional or cantilever types to suit both domestic and commercial purposes.

The oldest type is the conventional sliding gate with wheels on the bottom frame and a floor track to run on, all the way across the entrance and as much again for the gate to fully open and close.

More recently, to avoid disrupting driveways, cantilever types have proved more popular, as all that is really needed is a concrete foundation block to mount the carriages to, which run in a track welded to the bottom of the gate. With a calculated overhang to balance the gate, it will fully open and close without the need for anything in the floor.
