Made to Measure Wrought Iron Gates - The Blenheim
Help Measuring your gates
We need some very accurate measurements of your gate opening. Please follow the steps below before giving us the measurements.
- Measure the gap between the wall/posts at the top and the bottom as shown below. Making sure you measure from the inside of one post/wall to the inside of the other.
- Please DO NOT measure an old gate if you are buying a replacement. We will calculate the gate size from the widths you will give us, taking in to account the space we need for hinges and the latch.
- Enter the exact measurements A & B (in millimetres or inches).
- Enter any special comments or requirements where relevant. i.e. the gap between the coping stones if these overhang the wall/posts or anything that you feel we may need to be taken into consideration, if you are unsure please ask us to contact you in the comments section.
Customer Requirements when Buying Made to Measure Gates
Please make sure the measurements you have given us are accurate and you have followed the steps above as these measurements WILL be used to make the gates. We will confirm back to you the measurements on a confirmation of order. Double check the measurements and if there are any problems please call us immediately on 01282 677300 so we can make the necessary changes before the gates go into full production.
If you are having problems/issues with getting these measurements or if there is something you don't understand, please call us so that we can guide you through the measurement stage as it is imperative that this is done correctly.
Galvanised as Standard
All of our Gates are Hot-Dipped Galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461. It is not unreasonable to expect in excess of 50 years before any sign of corrosion.
Painting Optional Extra
Our Gates are then electro-statically spray-painted using our High-Build Vinyl Paint System, hand-finished with Patina, to a colour of your choice (see examples below). The high build vinyl is renowned for its adhesion to all metal substrates, ensuring the paint is unlikely to ‘flake’. We endeavour to achieve 110 micron coverage to ensure long lasting protection.
Hot-Dipped Galvanizing is the process of coating External Ironwork with a thin pure zinc layer, by way of immersing the product/s in a molten bath of zinc at a temperature of around 860 F (460 °C). The pure zinc coating eliminates any corrosion, protecting the steel underneath from the weather elements & all of our Iron Gates are protected this way.
The Zinc Millenium Map available from the Galvanizers Association (UK), was produced to show the annual average atmospheric corrosion of zinc in the UK & Ireland. Results from this show that an industry standard galvanised coating of approx. 85 microns (BS EN ISO 1461) of which all of our Iron Gates are covered with, should now achieve a good life expectancy of 50 years in most environments.
By also Painting our Gates with High-Build Vinyl Paint, this is adding protective layers again, increasing the life expectancy of the galvanised coating even more.
Chamberlain Liftmaster Gate Automation
For all our ready made gates we recommend the Chamberlain Liftmaster Sub-300 230v Underground Gate System.
Underground Gate System
The main advantage of using an underground gate system is that everything is concealed below ground level & is therefore far more aesthetically pleasing.
Above-Ground Gate System
An alternative system is where arms, or rams, are fitted to the inside of the gates. These systems are easier to fit than the underground systems, but are more obtrusive.
Access Control is in addition to a Gate Automation System with a vast range of products available to suit your exact requirements.
We offer Audio, Video & GSM Intercoms, Car Sensor Devices, Ground-Loops, Keypads, Blue-Tooth Recognition Devices etc. & welcome your call to discuss all of your options in detail.
